Our Firearms Program prioritizes safety, quality instruction and comprehensive learning experience

The Tactical 52 Firearms Training Program will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to handle firearms safely and comfortably. All instructors are Maryland HQL (Handgun Qualification License) qualified, which means they are certified in Maryland plus 35 other states. In addition, all Tactical 52 instructors are Federal Law Enforcement and National Rifle Association (NRA) certified. Our program consists of four courses that provide direct instruction and guidance. Each course includes a combination of classroom instruction and live fire training on a shooting range.

   Maryland HQL Certification Course

Maryland HQL Certification Course

NRA Home Firearm Safety Course: This course establishes the fundamental principles of firearm safety, including handling, storage, and awareness. It provides a foundational understanding that applies universally to all firearm use, making it the ideal starting point for complete beginners.

Cost: $ 175.00 per person

NRA Basic Pistol Course: After understanding general firearm safety, students can progress to learning specific skills for handling and using a pistol. This course focuses on the basics of shooting mechanics (grip, aiming, stance), making it suitable for building practical skills.

Cost: $ 200.00 per person

 Defensive Pistol Course:  Once students are comfortable with firearm operation, they can learn strategies for defensive shooting in the home. This course builds on basic pistol skills while introducing defensive concepts tailored to home safety.

Cost: $ 150.00 per person

NRA Basic CCW: This is the most advanced course in the program. It covers firearm safety and usage in a broader context, emphasizing concealed carry and defensive skills in various scenarios. Students should complete this after gaining confidence in basic handling and defensive skills at home.

Cost: $ 250.00 per person

Maryland HQL Certification Course

Handgun Qualification License training is a four-hour block of instruction which includes classroom instruction on state firearm law, home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, and a component that requires the applicant demonstrate the ability to safely fire a handgun. Approved HQL training courses are offered by Maryland State Police approved Qualified Handgun Instructors who have established an account through the Maryland State Police MyLicense/e-gov site. Training is valid for 3 years and must be completed prior to submitting an application for a Handgun Qualification License.

Who Needs It: A person may not purchase, rent, or receive a handgun after October 1, 2013 unless they possess a valid Handgun Qualification License (HQL) issued by the Maryland State Police.
